Dr John Ransford

Dr Ransford peacefully passed away at home on January 27th, 2020. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all of us who remember him from his many years working here at Cantilupe Surgery.

Dr Ransford was taken on as a GP assistant at Cantilupe in 1964 after he had been working as a medical registrar at the County Hospital. In 1966 Dr Moir Brown retired and John joined the partnership.

He was the first GP trainer at Cantilupe. His first trainee was Bernie Smallwood (who left after 6 months because he was offered a partnership in Kingstone) and the next was Peter Garlick, who became a partner in Much Birch. He was also the trainer for Richard Henderson.

We stand in his debt for all he contributed to Cantilupe, and honour his passing.
